About Jacksonville's Community Nutcracker

History

A Christmas miracle occurred in 1992 when a group of studio owners in Jacksonville, FL had a brilliant vision. They wanted to combine their love for performance while giving back to the local community; spreading the spirit of Christmas and establishing a tradition that has captivated children and adults every year while promoting the timeless Christmas message of giving back. Community Nutcracker was born, and the enchanting story of a young girl and her brave nutcracker soldier has been told in its unique way each holiday season since 1992.

There is something exceptional about Community Nutcracker that no one can deny. This highly sophisticated production is built purely upon a passion for art and selfless will for an emotionally stirring result; it’s not about receiving a salary. Every performance exudes imagination and creativity. Dancers gracefully twirl and twist in Clara’s winter wonderland, pulling the audience into the jubilance as well.

Community Nutcracker is the only nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that offers a portion of its proceeds to local charitable agencies with each performance and has donated over $600,000 in the past 25 years! The performing company is made up of local talent with more than 200 dancers ranging in age from 9 to adult from Northeast Florida auditioning and performing in the production.
